Constructed of gilded bronze with enamels and magnetic iron, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, overlaid by a Tyr rune, in turn bearing a mobile swastika set within a ring bearing a raised inscription of FR LEISTUNGEN IN DER H. J. (FOR MERIT IN THE H. J.), the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flattened catch, marked B indicating a supplementary piece, also marked
